I love the chance to go out with girlfriends, and chat for a little bit without the constant interruptions we have during play dates. Every now and then it’s fun to have a night in together too. We had a Galentine’s party together this year, and honestly, it was so much fun! I thought I would share some tips and ideas for how to host a memorable girls’ night in.
Food Ideas for Girls’ Night
Of course, one of the most important parts of a memorable night includes great food and drinks. Planning the food for a big party feels stressful, especially if you want to make it look good too. However, I’ll share a few simple ideas for food presentation, that will make food prep easier.
Tips for Food Presentation
- Make one or more charcuterie-styled boards for the food table. I’m currently obsessed with my charcuterie board from Timber Fields Market! It’s beautiful and can hold a lot of food, which makes it perfect for hosting. Use the coupon code BLOSSOM10 for a discount on their boards. For our Galentine’s themed event, we had a dessert charcuterie board featuring chocolate squares, X and O treats from Trader Joe’s, heart-shaped chocolate cookies, also from Trader Joe’s (they have the best treats), and some Lindt truffles. We also had a typical board with cheeses (cutout like hearts using a mini cookie cutter), meat, and crackers. Some of my favorite cheeses to use include: Brie, Goat cheese, Gouda, and Cheddar cheese.
- Beautify the food table with a few bouquets of flowers and greenery. I usually display the flowers in vases or Mason jars, but I like to cut a few blooms and leaves to spread around the table, as well.
- Mix it up with some sweet and some savory food. Everyone likes a little bit of both. Also, make a separate space for drinks to make it look fancier, and to minimize traffic around the food table. Here is the recipe to the grapefruit mocktail drink we made for our party. Not only was it delicious, but it was easy and pretty!
- Use frames from around your house to display some pretty art prints. I love the ones I found by Luster Prints. You can see her Valentine’s Day prints here.
- Make at least one item that can be single serve. Here’s a link to a bunch of fancy ideas for appetizers in a cup. We had some delicious trifles that were perfect for this. We made them individually, in small plastic cups, instead of in one huge trifle bowl.
Fun Activities to do for Girls’ Night
Hosting a get together at someone’s home, instead of a night out on the town, can be equally as fun as going out, and a lot more relaxing. We planned a few fun activities to keep conversation flowing and everyone entertained.
- We started off with general introductions. Once everyone was sitting down, we took a chance to go around and share a few things about ourselves.
- One of the best parts of our night was our favorite things gift exchange. Everyone who came brought two of the same item. One at a time, we went around and described what product(s) we had brought and why we loved it. Then we drew two names from a basket and gave those ladies the items we brought. Each of us ended up with two things and it was an easy and fun way to get to know each other, and share some of our favorite things. Below, I included a few of the items that people brought, and shared as their “favorite thing”.
- The Bowl Game, as described here, is a so fun for parties. It’s easy to adjust to any sized group, and makes for a lot of laughs.

How to Create the Perfect Ambiance
- Find or create the perfect music playlist for your event. Anything that’s fun background music and can eventually lead to a full-blown dance party is my personal favorite style.
- Create a simple, but fun photo-op spot for the party. We got a DIY balloon arch kit from, Amazon, that was so easy to put together, we had issues figuring out how to hang it, but next time we’ll be pros. A cute spot for pictures makes it easy to get everyone to pose for a group photo and a fun backdrop for the party.
- I do love to decorate for a party. I don’t like spending too much money though, so most of my decor consists of flowers (they make everything beautiful), cute art prints in frames, and decor items gathered up from around my house.
- Make goody bags for guests to take home. This was quite possibly one of my favorite parts of prepping for the party. We ended up giving each guest a goodydf bag filled with Lindt truffles, finger nail polish, felt hearts from the cutest Etsy shop, and a miniature version of the art prints we used for the party decor.
