This week we’re celebrating Valentine’s Day! Since becoming a mom, I’ve come to enjoy it even more. My kids love holidays so much, and their enthusiasm is contagious! Reading holiday-themed books is a favorite way of ours to get into the spirit of the season. Here are some of our very favorite Valentine’s Day books for kids.

Cutest Valentine’s Day Books for Kids
I’ll Love you Till the Cows Come Home by Kathryn Cristaldi. Such a clever story using lots of ways to prove just how long you’ll be loved.
Love Matters Most by Mij Kelly. A cute story of a mama polar bear braving a storm to search for something so special, more important than anything else; her little cub.
Bagel in Love, by Natasha Wing. The illustrations and story are both so cute. Bagel tries to find a dance partner for the big contest. Everyone is rejecting him. Until he finds the most beautiful Cupcake and falls in love.
When an Elephant Falls in Love, by Davide Cali. An elephant struggles expressing his love and does silly things like hide, and write notes he won’t send. But love is worth is worth the wait.
Love Is, by Diane Adams. A story about caring for others. The illustrations are beautiful and so is the sentiment; especially, when you read this to your little one.
Plant a Kiss, by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. A heart-warming story about how one small act of love blooms into something bigger and more dazzling than Little Miss could have ever imagined.
Here Comes Valentine Cat, by Deborah Underwood. Such a funny and clever read! We laughed at this one so much. A good reminder that sometimes we’re too quick too judge, especially when it comes to other people’s intentions.
The Biggest Valentine Ever, by Steven Kroll. Two friends try to make a valentine for their teacher, but can’t agree. They each like their ideas better. Finally, through great teamwork they create the biggest valentine ever!
Lola Dutch I Love You so Much, by Kenneth Wright. The Lola Dutch series are a favorite of ours. She’s so sweet and the illustrations are amazing! In this story, she works so hard to make her friends feel special and loved. Then they have a little surprise for her.
The Day It Rained Hearts, by Felicia Bond. This is the perfect book to pair with Valentine’s Day crafts. It starts raining hearts and Cornelia Augusta catches them and makes each one into a special valentine for her friends. Check out this post for a few fun and easy Valentine’s Day Craft ideas!
Groundhug Day, by Anne Marie Pace. Such a clever and funny story, about the animal friends strategizing to keep Groundhog from seeing his shadow so that he would come to the Valentine’s Day party. This one made us laugh too!
In My Heart: A Book of Feelings, by Jo Witek. An engaging book, with a die-cut heart through each spread. This one empowers little ones to understand and express all the big, and different feelings our hearts experience.
Snowy Valentine, by David Petersen. On a snowy Valentine’s day, Jasper the bunny searches for a special gift for wife. During his search through the forest, he creates the most delightful way to show how much he loves her.
Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch, by Eileen Spinelli. One cold day, the postman delivers a mysterious package to a lonely man named Mr. Hatch. The package is a special Valentine’s Day gift, that changes his heart. He brings joy to all the people around him, and discovers just where the package came from.
Valentine’s Day Fun for Kids
All of these books are so darling! Valentine’s Day is such a fun and special day to celebrate, especially with kids. I regularly gift my kids with books for holidays. It’s a fun way for them to open gifts that aren’t toys, and we love pulling these books out each year to enjoy them again. These love-centric Valentine’s Day books are delightful and I hope you’ll enjoy them with your littles, as well.
Sincerely,
