Easter and celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is a beautiful time of year! We planned so many great activities this year, and wanted to share a few of those ideas here. We also, got some great ideas from family and friends, so I wanted to include those too!
5 Easy Easter Crafts for Kids
The kids and I worked on some really fun crafts over the last few weeks that I wanted to share. They were all really easy and required basic crafting supplies; we didn’t have to buy anything to do these.
The Small Seed Easter Week
We love doing The Small Seed Easter devotional for the week leading up to Easter. It is simple, but so special. We love to hang up the pictures one day at a time, after reading a few scriptures about the last week of Jesus’ life.
DIY Resurrection Easter Eggs
My mom and my mother-in-law made Resurrection Easter eggs for us and my kids love doing this activity together. They used an old egg carton, and plastic eggs filled with small objects and stories related to the last week of Jesus’ life and His Resurrection. Here’s a tutorial and free print outs to make your own. We like to do this activity a couple of times during the week, once at the beginning and once on Easter Sunday. We hide the eggs around our house and the kids find them, and take turns helping us tell the story.
Resurrection Cookies
My neighbor sent me this idea, and I love it! Kids love to help with baking and stopping to read scriptures after adding each ingredient is a great way to keep them engaged. Here is a link to the Resurrection cookies post, and here is a link to the recipe and scripture PDF.
Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt
This year our neighborhood worked together to make a special Easter egg hunt for the kids, but printing out these Easter Egg Coloring Sheets and hanging them in windows of our homes. The kids have loved looking for the eggs to try and find them all in homes around the neighborhood.
Playlist of Bible Videos
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, has amazing Bible videos that we love to watch together. I made a playlist of the videos comprising Jesus’ last week before he was crucified. It also includes Bible videos from the stories of His Resurrection. We like sitting down and watching these together on Good Friday, it is a really special tradition, that focuses us on our Savior.
Best Book Lists for Spring + Easter
The two main accounts I follow for great book lists are my sister’s (Katie, https://www.katiespublications.com/) and Janssen’s (https://everyday-reading.com/) . Here’s Katie’s list of Spring and Easter books and here is Janssen’s list for Easter books.
Delicious Food for Easter Dinner
We made a delicious Easter dinner this year, complete with a salad (pear, Craisin, sunflower seed, mozarella) topped with poppy seed dressing, grilled asparagus, rolls, a delicious Cheddar Baked Chicken, easy, but fancy Hasselback Potatoes by Joanna Gaines, and an incredible French Silk Pie by Joanna Gaines.
We loved all the different ways we were able to celebrate Easter this year, and wanted to share some of those traditions with you. Let me know what some of your favorite foods and activities for Easter include. Hope you had the best Easter weekend!
