3 Simple Steps for Creating a Living Trust & Will

June 22, 2020      Sarah Van Wagenen

*For full disclosure, this post is sponsored and includes affiliate links. If you're anything like me, seeing the words "Trust" and "Will", immediately invoke feelings of guilt and anxiety. I feel guilty, because, as a mother, this is something I've always known I needed to do; however, the complexity, expense, and overall lack of understanding has lead to the "I don't even know where to start" anxiety. If you've felt all these feelings too, then I've got some great news for you! Creating ...

16 Books for Your Summer Reading List 2020

June 15, 2020      Sarah Van Wagenen

books

I love books and I love to read! I have been so nervous to put together a book list, because it's intimidating and lot of work. Once I got started on it though, I had so much fun putting it together. I hope you've read a few of these, or will give them a try; but most importantly, I hope you enjoy what I've put together! I'll split the books up into a few different categories, so you can skip to topics that interest you. Romance Books 1. Persuasion, by Jane Austen Personally, this is ...

Teaching our children the value of diversity is immeasurable. This post is meant to empower parents with resources that can assist us in raising anti-racist children. Add Diversity to Your Children's Toys + Activities Indy & Pippa, created a free paper doll download, with 6 diverse dolls and 12 outfits, make sure to check it ...

Fancy Blondies with White Chocolate Chips

June 1, 2020      Sarah Van Wagenen

My whole life I have loved blondies. I don't know if it's the buttery taste or the brown sugar goodness, probably that exact combination, but they're incredible! We just got a set of ramekins from Amazon, that were begging to be used, and making blondies in them, topped with ice cream, seemed like the best idea. Every week we like to have a night dedicated to time together as a family. We usually have a lesson, an activity, and a dessert. Dolly was in charge of the dessert and after about ...

How to Make Learning Fun with Reading Eggs

May 29, 2020      Sarah Van Wagenen

girls playing on ipad

*This is a sponsored post with Reading Eggs. To be transparent, I have used their program for a while, and have highly recommended it to anyone asking how I've taught my kids to read. All of my children have developed a deep love for reading and books, and, as a mother, it has been one of the most beautiful things for me to experience with them. The best lesson I've learned, is the importance of making learning fun. I wanted to start teaching my kids to read, because they learned their ...

Engaging Learning Activity for Kids

May 27, 2020      Sarah Van Wagenen

Box toy house

I saw this cute idea on Instagram to give the kids a tray with play doh, candles, sprinkles, and cupcake liners and let their creative minds take over. My little ones went overboard with their pretend play, but I loved it! Together we created such an engaging learning activity. They decided they wanted to set up a bake sale with all the cupcakes they were making, so we got to work. We used our Banker's Box Treats 'N Eats Playhouse for the bake sale, and set if up over the kids' kitchen set. ...

One of the most stunning scenic drives in Vermont! The winding road through the mountains is incredible, but make time to get out and hike. Sometimes knowing what to order at a restaurant co Sometimes knowing what to order at a restaurant completely changes your experience.

Here are my top recommendations for food to try in Vegas.

📍Aria Patisserie

The Raspberry Rose macaron, a crisp, chewy shell, luscious raspberry filling, and a subtle floral rose finish. Sweet, tart, and perfectly elegant. 🌹🍓

📍Din Thai Fung

Order the Noodles with Spicy Sauce and use the “spicy sauce” to flavor as many other options as you choose. I highly recommend it with the Spicy Chicken Wontons and Pork Bao buns.

DO NOT leave without trying the Mango Shaved Ice and the Chocolate + Mochi XLB Bao Buns with a side of Sea Salt Cream

📍La Fontaine (for brunch)

Soufflé Pancakes: Ultra-fluffy, cloud-like pancakes topped with bright lemon curd, fresh berries, and airy thyme whipped cream.

Le Traditionnel Eggs Benedict, smoked ham, potato bread, and truffled hollandaise. Amazing, so well done!

📍 Saint Honore

Most famous for their creme Brulee donut and their beignets. We also tried the Passionfruit donut. All of them were standout donuts and not overly sweet, but so fresh and absolutely worth the stop.

📍Bellagio Patisserie

Coolest patisserie design, famous for the mesmerizing chocolate fountain, a multi-tiered cascade of silky, rich chocolate.

I recommend either a sweet or savory crepe + the Key Lime Tart.

📍Guy Fieri’s Las Vegas Kitchen & Bar

“Koreatown” Tacos are a fun Korean-Mexican fusion dish: marinated thin-cut ribeye, creamy avocado-lime mash, tangy kimchi, pico de gallo, spicy mayo, and corn tortillas. Best taco I’ve ever had!

📍Buddy V’s Ristorante

Grandma’s Meatballs — tender beef, veal, and pork meatballs simmered in rich marinara and finished with Parmesan. A perfect family recipe!

📍Salt & Straw

I was encouraged to try Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper 🍓🍦—one of Salt & Straw’s signature flavors. It’s creamy strawberry ice cream with balsamic and a touch of citrusy black pepper that makes the strawberry flavor really pop. Delicious!!!

Pro tip: take your ice cream outside and try to time it with watching a Bellagio fountain show.

There’s something about this footage of Dolly waving to the people lining the streets of Dollywood that feels especially beautiful to me now. Warm. Nostalgic. Joyful. So very Dolly.

I’ve been going to Dollywood since I was 4 years old. Some of my earliest and sweetest memories are wrapped up in that place.

Now that I’m grown, I’ve had the joy of taking my own children to Dollywood countless times. But last year was the first time I ever got to see Dolly herself riding in the Opening Day Parade.

Dolly was an exceptional woman.

She made the most of the life God gave her, and perhaps even more beautifully, she brought people up with her. She used her success to open doors, give hope, create opportunities, and make people feel seen and loved.

There was something extraordinary about the way Dolly loved people. She didn’t just shine—she made everything around her a little brighter.

The world will not be the same without her. But what a gift it was to live in a world with Dolly Parton in it.🤍🦋

The dreamy crème brûlée Saint-Honoré donut—golden, crackly caramel on top, filled with silky vanilla cream, and impossibly decadent. 🍩✨

I can’t say what I liked more: the satisfying crunch of biting through the crystallized sugar? Or that it was the perfect amount of sweet but not TOO sweet? Or the vanilla cream in the middle? Just try it, you won’t regret it! So worth the hype and next time I’m definitely trying the beignets, that are highly recommended and also look delicious.
