Free Learning Resources for Teaching Kids at Home During Quarantine
With schools being cancelled and everyone having to learn from home, many online resources are being offered to families for free. I’ve spent some time reviewing some of my favorites and have compiled a list to share with you. Some are geared toward younger kids and some are for any aged child. I know a lot of kids’ schooling has moved to e-learning, with plenty of work to keep them busy, but in case you’re looking for something extra, here you go.
- Easy Peasy All-in-One Homeschool is a complete pre-k through high school, free curriculum with full courses for every subject. I’ve used the Getting Ready 1 reading program to teach both of my pre-k girls how to read. It’s simple, straightforward, and everything you need is right on the website. For kids still learning their letters, they have worksheets and activities here.
- Little Dragon Toys has a whole area of their website dedicated to social distancing support. Some of my favorites are the Letters Workbook and the Numbers Workbook.
- Reading Eggs has a ton of free worksheets and workbooks for every age pre-k to 6th grade.
- The American Museum of Natural History has a huge variety of resources, including behind the scenes content of their exhibits on their YouTube channel.
- Arizona State University has 18 awesome, virtual field trips, with videos, photos, explanations, and more.
- Cincinnati Zoo has daily animal encounters and home-based activities with different animals.
- Math worksheets by Ed Helper for every age.
