As a mom of 4 little ones, I am constantly figuring out how to help babies and kids sleep well. I will never pretend to be a sleep expert, but there are a few things I’ve learned, that have made a big difference. This post strictly covers my experience with sleep swaddles for babies. My youngest is currently 3 months old, and we are in the swaddling stage. I know sometimes he wakes up in the night from hunger or because he’s starting to reach some developmental milestones, but recently, keeping him swaddled well throughout the night, is key!
Brands of Baby Sleep Swaddles
Here are some of the brands of swaddles we’ve used and my review of how each of them works for us.
The Nested Bean at our current stage, this has been our go-to swaddle. It’s lightly weighted, comfortable, easy to swaddle, and stays swaddled. The design of this sleep sack is pretty genius. It has an inner pocket to put a newborn’s feet, until they’re big enough for the full swaddle. So this is one that can last from start to finish of swaddling.
Halo Sleep Sack this is another great option. We have used these for all of our babies. They’re not weighted, but they can be worn one of three ways, and also grow with baby. When baby is small you can swaddle them tightly, then you can swaddle with one arm, or use it as a wearable blanket once they’re done being swaddled. I use these for a very long time, as a wearable blanket.
Dreamland Baby Weighted Sleep Sack this is another great, weighted option. They also have every option available for swaddling, to partial swaddling, to no swaddling. I have the weighted sleep sack for transitioning out of swaddling. We have started using it for the last several weeks, and have noticed a consistent improvement in sleeping longer stretches at night. You can use my code BLOSSOM15 for a discount.
Velcro Swaddle although these sleep sacks aren’t weighted and will only last the first several months, they are definitely worth it! These are the swaddles I use every single night for the first few months. They’re basic, but they keep swaddling simple and safe. They’re also very inexpensive, especially compared to a lot of other options.
Safe Swaddling Practices
A common question for parents, is when to stop swaddling their baby. I’ve found this article 5 Signs It’s Time to Stop Swaddling Your Baby to be very informative and helpful! From the experts, here’s an article about how to keep babies sleeping safely.
I hope all of this information is helpful to parents. If you have any questions about helping babies sleep or about any of these different swaddles let me know. We’ve definitely learned more and more with each baby. I would love to hear what has worked for you and your families, as well, so comment or message me to share your experiences.
Sincerely,
