Top Skin Products for Summer Time

May 20, 2020      Sarah Van Wagenen

Summer flat lay with clothes, sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen

We spend a lot of time outside in the summer, like almost all our time other than naps and dinner time; otherwise, you will find us sitting poolside, or more accurately, jumping into the pool on repeat. We love to be outside and we love to swim! It has taken me a while to find good skincare products, especially ones that will provide good protection against the sun, but I finally found DERMA E and am loving all their products!

Skincare Products for Summer

Since we live in such a humid place [as dear as you are to our hearts, Birmingham, you’re pretty dang humid] almost every type of sunscreen I’ve tried has made my face break out. This oil-free free sunscreen by DERMA E has worked so well for me. It feels so light and non-greasy, but it protects my face really well too. Since having kids I’ve had issues with Melasma (basically it looks like I have dark spots, especially on my cheeks), and the more sun my face is exposed to the worse it looks. So far, even with us being outside all day every day the past few weeks, I haven’t had any issues, so I know this sunscreen is protecting my skin well!

I also got to try the DERMA E Firming Toner and Citrus Facial Peel, and both are so rejuvenating! The toner does make my skin feel tighter and both products have been good for brightening my complexion. The facial peel is a spa experience, in and of itself. It smells like I have orange peels on my face, and I love how smooth and clear my face looks after using it.

Blue Light Shield Products

Based on research results, blue light ages skin similar to UVA. DERMA E has developed a Blue Light Protection line to keep your skin beautiful and protected from environmental aging. I’m particularly impressed with their makeup setting spray, because it’s something I can add to my routine without feeling overwhelmed. It has dual purposes, to set makeup and protect your skin!

To provide full disclosure, I was gifted these products, but this is not a sponsored post. Meaning, I’ve been able to try these for free, but was not paid to write a review. That being said, I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to try these products by DERMA E; I’m so impressed with their background and with the ingredients they use. I also think their price point is amazing! If you’ve tried anything from DERMA E, I would love to know your experience in the comments. Personally, I really want to try their Acne Deep Pore Cleansing Wash next, and I’ll keep you posted about how it goes!

Sincerely,

Sarah

If seeing Yellowstone’s wildlife is on your bucket If seeing Yellowstone’s wildlife is on your bucket list, don’t skip these two places!

📍 Hayden Valley + Lamar Valley, Yellowstone National Park

These are two of the best places in Yellowstone to spot wildlife and they’re completely different experiences!

🦬 Hayden Valley
Located in the heart of Yellowstone, Hayden Valley is famous for bison, elk, bears, coyotes, and sometimes wolves. The wide-open landscape makes it easier to scan the hillsides and riverbanks for animals. It’s also a beautiful drive with plenty of places to pull over and take in the views.

We drove through this area in the evening on our way out of Yellowstone and saw bison, a grizzly bear, deer, and elk. We even got to see a baby bison nursing. So special!!

🐺 Lamar Valley
Often called the “Serengeti of North America,” Lamar Valley is one of the best places in the park to look for wolves, bison, pronghorn, bears, and other wildlife. Get there early, bring binoculars, and watch the hillsides carefully—you never know what you might spot!

👀 Our biggest tips: Wildlife is wild, so sightings are never guaranteed. Look for groups of people stopped along the road (while following all park rules). Bring binoculars or a camera with a zoom lens, and animals are most active before 9 AM or after 4 PM.

📌 Save this for your Yellowstone trip!
