30 Gift Guide Ideas for Couples

November 20, 2020      Sarah Van Wagenen

Sometimes the person you’re closest to is the hardest to shop for, but there are so many good gift ideas. This gift guide includes ideas for as little as $5, and most gifts are under $30. I also tried to share ideas that couples would really love and enjoy together. I’ll link to a few other gift guides I’ve put together. Here’s a gift guide for men, here are some gift ideas for women, and here are 10 interactive gift ideas for kids.

Gift Guide for Couples

The Ultimate Couples' Gift Guide

For Couples Who Love Games

gift guide games for couples

Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza– We love this card game! It’s easy to learn and leads to lots of laughs.

SKYJO– Another fun card game you can play with just two. We just got this one and even kids can play easily.

Set– We’ve had this card game for years, and it’s such a good one for two.

Escape Room in a Box– These look so fun. The Exit brand has a ton of different ones. This would make for an awesome date night at home!

Murder Mystery Puzzle Book– Another unique way to play and strategize together.

Rememory– This card game looks like a great way to stroll down memory lane together.

For Foodies

gift guide food gift ideas

Make your own chocolate truffles kit– As food lovers, this just seems like a cool kit. It would be such a tastey way to spend a date night!

Homemade Mushroom Ravioli Kit– Again, it would be awesome to learn how to make ravioli, and I’m sure would taste so good!

Fondu set– We love making chocolate and cheese Fondu pots, for a romantic and yummy, at-home date night.

The Complete Cooking for Two Cookbook– This cookbook has outstanding reviews. It would be so fun to slowly go through and make fancy meals together.

Charcuterie board– This is a gift that would just keep giving. We make cheese boards, and charcuterie boards for at-home date nights all the time. We combine it with a movie or show for an easy, and delicious night.

Romantic Couples’ Gifts

gift guide romantic gift ideas

Picnic basket– We got a picnic basket last year, and have used to probably 30+ times. We’ve done romantic, date night picnics, and lots of picnics as a family. This is another gift that would get a lot of use!

Massage oils + soy candles– Massages by candlelight, such a perfectly romantic, relaxing, and enjoyable date night.

Breakfast in bed tray– We use ours for birthdays and Mother’s Day and Father’s day/other times that we want to celebrate each other with a special breakfast in bed.

Paint together kit– Learning and working on a painting together would be another fun date night.

Faux fur throw– I bought these for a Valentine’s Day gift about 5 years ago, and these are still our favorites to cuddle under to watch movies or read books.

Weighted blanket– We got the most incredible 2-in-1 Summer and Winter Weighted Blanket from Hush; we love it! Here’s a cheaper option if you’re looking for something more basic.

Picture frames– Something as simple as printing and displaying meaningful photos of the two of you can still be really special.

Jewelry dish– Kurt got me a dish for jewelry several years ago and I love it, because it’s something I use every day, and he picked it out for me!

Hydrating face mask– Grab a couple of these for a spa night together. Treating yourself is the best!

Great Books for Couples

gift guide books for couples

The 5 Love Languages- I’m sure everyone knows about this book already, but it’s such a good one for truly understanding that everyone feels love and shows love differently. It’s so helpful for identifying how each of you in a relationship express love and what makes you feel loved.

The Big Activity Book for Couples– This one has so many good reviews! It’s full of games, puzzles, quizzes, and activities for couples. Plus it’s only $7!

The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work– Again, another one with thousands of 5-star reviews. It seems to be a good one, and would probably be worth $7!

The Bucket List– This book looks amazing!! I definitely want it! 1,000 Adventures Big and Small.

For Adventurous Couples

gift guide adventurous gift ideas

The Adventure Challenge– They have several different adventure books for couples, families, and friends. All of them look so fun! You scratch off for a unique date or activity, then head out on an adventure. Afterwards, you can include a picture and notes on how it went.

The Adventure Challenge journal page

Off the Beaten Path Book– For all the wanderlusting souls, this book just seems magical!

Destinations of a Lifetime– Beautiful photography and descriptions of best places to visit from landmarks to natural wonders

National Geographic: Ultimate Journeys for Two– Another book filled with extraordinary trips for couples.

The Adventures of Us Travel Journal– Such a keepsake! A special way to plan trips and record your experiences traveling together.

Find the Best Gifts to Give

The most important part of gift-giving is that it comes from the heart. It’s easy to spend a lot of money on presents, but that’s not what matters. People will feel your love when you give a gift that requires thought and meaning. I’ve tried to share lots of unique, but meaningful gift ideas for couples in this gift guide. Hopefully, this will give you a head start on gift buying for the season.

Sincerely,

Sarah

Save this stop for your Yellowstone trip! You cannot leave Yellowstone without walking the short (paved) 0.2 miles round trip for this stunning view.

They called it Artist Point for a reason. 🎨

One look at this view and you’ll understand why artists have been inspired by the “Grand Canyon of Yellowstone” for generations.

This famous, scenic overlook offers a classic, postcard view of the Yellowstone River, towering canyon walls, and Lower Falls. The stunning landscape comes together to create one of the most breathtaking views in the park.

And yes… it’s even more beautiful in person. I didn’t want to ever leave!

One of my favorite parts of Yellowstone is seeing wildlife up close in their natural habitat. There’s something so incredible about watching these amazing animals!

In case I get major hate, just remember: admire them from a safe distance—no matter how pettable they look! 😂

If seeing Yellowstone’s wildlife is on your bucket If seeing Yellowstone’s wildlife is on your bucket list, don’t skip these two places!

📍 Hayden Valley + Lamar Valley, Yellowstone National Park

These are two of the best places in Yellowstone to spot wildlife and they’re completely different experiences!

🦬 Hayden Valley
Located in the heart of Yellowstone, Hayden Valley is famous for bison, elk, bears, coyotes, and sometimes wolves. The wide-open landscape makes it easier to scan the hillsides and riverbanks for animals. It’s also a beautiful drive with plenty of places to pull over and take in the views.

We drove through this area in the evening on our way out of Yellowstone and saw bison, a grizzly bear, deer, and elk. We even got to see a baby bison nursing. So special!!

🐺 Lamar Valley
Often called the “Serengeti of North America,” Lamar Valley is one of the best places in the park to look for wolves, bison, pronghorn, bears, and other wildlife. Get there early, bring binoculars, and watch the hillsides carefully—you never know what you might spot!

👀 Our biggest tips: Wildlife is wild, so sightings are never guaranteed. Look for groups of people stopped along the road (while following all park rules). Bring binoculars or a camera with a zoom lens, and animals are most active before 9 AM or after 4 PM.

📌 Save this for your Yellowstone trip!

📍Cathedral Caverns, AL Part 2: If you’re planning 📍Cathedral Caverns, AL
Part 2: If you’re planning a visit to Cathedral Caverns, these are the things you won’t want to miss:

✨ Goliath — one of the largest stalagmites you’ll ever see.
💧 A “frozen” waterfall… made entirely of stone.
🦄 A rock formation that really does look like a unicorn.
💚 Keep an eye out for “The Grinch.”
⛪ The Cathedral — an incredible open chamber filled with breathtaking formations.
💜 Natural amethyst crystals hidden throughout the cave.
🔒 The Gem Room — a hidden section that’s off-limits to visitors. It’s only accessible to scientists through a 40-foot wormhole crawl! You can see where the entrance is, learn about it in the museum, and trust me… our kids spent the entire walk back trying to figure out how they could become the ones to explore it someday.
🎬 Fun fact: Disney’s Tom and Huck (starring Jonathan Taylor Thomas) was filmed here!

This cave surprised us at every turn. Which feature would you be most excited to see?
